City’s First ReadersCreative Director UX Design UI Design Content Design

Develop a cohesive visual identity. Design a website that showcases all partner orgs. Increase engagement with partner orgs and events.

City’s First Readers (CFR), a coalition of 17 nonprofits, is part of the New York City Council’s Early Literacy Initiative aimed at providing programs and services to ensure that children from all backgrounds have a solid foundation to start school successfully.

I led the visual design and creative strategy for CFR over a period of three years. In the first year I led the re-design of their website by making it more useful, user friendly and visually on brand. I addressed the site’s architecture, content and UI as a system designer ensuring that everything connected to the goals of supportining users in their early childhood literacy journey.

In addition I worked on multiple outreach campaigns for which I led the designs for digital and print materials including animated social media assets, brochures, coloring sheets, flyers, stickers etc.

Custom Filter and Search Design:

The search filter made it easy for parents to locate the right partner organization for their child. We saw a 406% increase in partner program searches and QR Code Scan activity in 21 Council Districts proving this tool was helpful for parents and caregivers.
Search Results Partner Org Card Design:

After conducting a deep literature review of every partner org I led the design for a reusable card component. When expanded the user would find relevant information about the org making it simpler for them to decide if they should contact the org or not.
